Flossmoor Station Brewers: Past and Present

This event features the past two brewers and the current head brewer at Flossmoor Station Brewing Company, each pouring a selection from their current breweries. Original Floosmoor Station brewmaster Todd Ashman (currently with Fifty Fifty Brewing Co. in Truckee, Calif.) and current Flossmoor brewmaster Bryan Shimkos join the brewmaster between them, Matt Van Wyk (currently at Oakshire Brewing in Eugene, Oregon) for an evening of great beers. Flossmoor Station, winner of dozens of Great American Beer Festival (GABF) and World Beer Cup awards, plus GABF Small Brewpub of the Year in 2006, have been making beers in Chicagoland since 1996. Todd, Matt and Bryan will each have a beer on tap at the Map Room and be available for a meet and greet.

Legendary Brewmaster Fritz Maytag, best known as the grandfather of the craft brewing revolution and owner of San Francisco's Anchor Brewing & Distilling Company and York Creek Vineyards in Napa Valley, meets and greets fans and talks about the history of microbrewing and the burgeoning artisanal distilling movement. Sampling includes Anchor Beers and Junipero Gin, York Creek Wines and Maytag Blue Cheese, created by Fritz's father in 1941 on the family's Iowa dairy farms. Anchor pints will be available for $3 and Junipero Gin cocktails for $6 all day. No reservations required.

Atwater is launching its first ever Double IPA Single Batch at The Bottom Lounge for CBC 2010. The event is from 6:00 – 9:00 pm with the tapping of the firkin at 7:00 pm and complementary appetizers and Double IPA samples from 7:00 – 8:00 pm at a hosted bar by Atwater Brewery and Central Beverage.

$4 Atwater pints all night, while supplies last. We will have logo glassware while supplies last, Atwater swag, and a prize for the best name that night!

Starting at 5:00 pm, the one seriously cool bus will make rounds to the three main Craft Brewers Conference hotels (the Sheraton at 301 E North Water Street; the W at 644 N LSD; and Four Points Sheraton at 630 N Rush). The bus will pick up anyone—conference attendees, local music/beer lovers, people who want to ride on a cool bus—and bring them to Reggie's Rock Club for a metal show (9 pm—Killer Moon; 10 pm—Reptoids) and Metro beers. Just show up sometime between 5 pm and 8 pm. If you're in a hurry, tweet @MetroBrewing and let us know you're waiting. We'll see what we can do.
