Briess Malt & Ingredients Co.Briess Malt & Brew Workshop

Experience firsthand the art of crafting and brewing with specialty malts on April 6, 2010, at Briess Malt & Ingredients Co. in Chilton, Wisconsin. Presented in conjunction with the 2010 Craft Brewers Conference, the Briess Malt & Brew Workshop features a tour of the unique Briess malting operation and 500-bbl brewery/extract plant.

Workshops will be presented on the art of malting and handcrafting specialty malts, characteristics and applications of specialty malts, sensory, and the Briess sustainability program. Preregistration is required and is limited to 50 participants currently working in a licensed commercial brewery. Cost is $50 with bus transportation or $25 without bus transportation. Meals and beer included.

Free Wheat Beer Seminar Sponsored by Lallemand

The two lectures will focus on German Weizen and Belgian Wit beers.

THE CARNIVAL OF BEER

Time: 6:00 – 10:00 pm
Location: Bottom Lounge, 1375 West Lake St. (in the second floor "Volcano Room")

A FREE interactive party for attendees of the CBC and select invited guests only. Hosted by: Beverage Testing Institute and All About Beer Magazine Featuring:

  • The Classic Style Challenge – A brewery-employee-only contest to identify, blind, 12 of the world's classic beers styles. Those with perfect responses will be entered into a drawing to win a $1000 dream spirits bar. Sponsor: Merchant du Vin
  • The Fizz Quiz - A series of tasting challenges to identify beer faults, hops, and other beer curiosities and win cool award buttons.
  • The Beer Cellar Bar – A sampling of eight years of BTI's beer cellar archives, complete with original tasting notes and sheets for your comments.
  • The Beer Bazaar – A diverse selection of craft beers from recent BTI Beer tastings for all guests' enjoyment, plus an assortment of snacks.

How to get to the Carnival of Beer: Shuttle buses leaving from the convention at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers starting at 5PM and returning starting at 9PM or take the CTA Green Line train west from the State/Lake stop to the Ashland stop and go east three blocks. (Valid CBC ID's will be required for admittance)

CBC Late Night at Rock Bottom Brewery

Time: 9:30 pm - 1:30 am

The Illinois Craft Brewers Guild, in conjunction with Country Malt Group, is proud to offer a late night gathering spot for this year's CBC attendees at the Rock Bottom Brewery in downtown Chicago, just a few blocks from the Sheraton. Wear your conference badge for admission to our second floor banquet space, from 9:30 pm to 1:30 am Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening, and enjoy over 80 beers from Illinois and beyond. Featured will be 7 brews made with hops from the German Hop Growers Association and Malt from Best Malz, a visit from the German Hop Queen and real Chicago-style dogs.

Three Floyds CBC Extravaganza

Location: Three Floyds Brewing Co, 9750 Indiana Pkwy, Munster, IN 46321

As you begin to make plans for your visit to the Great City of Chicago and the 2010 Craft Brewer's Conference, mark your calendars for Friday, April 9th. Three Floyds Brewing Company will be the hosts of a not-to-be-missed rock and roll party extravaganza featuring dozens of Three Floyds beers, food, bands, and "not normal" times. Busses will be provided from downtown to the brewery and back, but capacity is limited and wristbands will be required. To acquire a wristband, locate a Three Floyds staff member before Friday night. If you missed partying in Austin with us, Gorch Fock, and a goat, don't neglect to see what we can accomplish on our home turf.

ICBG Brunch and Bloody Mary Bar

The Illinois Craft Brewers Guild, in conjunction with Triple B invite you to join us Sunday morning, April 11th, from 9am to 1pm at the Rock Bottom in downtown Chicago for Brunch and a Bloody Mary Bar! We are located directly on the 'Grand' Redline train stop, just a few blocks from the Sheraton, so bring your luggage, have some brunch and head to the airport!
